Hypnosis is a natural part of our everyday lives; we slip in and out of it multiple times a day. It happens when our unconscious mind takes over tasks and allows our conscious mind to do what it is good at (planning, analytical thinking and details). For instance, we have all experienced the moment of leaving one task to get something only to find ourselves standing in front of an open drawer and thinking "what did I come in here for again?"
The above is just one example of natural hypnosis. In hypnotherapy the hypnotherapist guides you into this wonderful state of awareness and relaxation where we deal with the vast power of the unconscious mind to affect positive changes and facilitate the healing process in you.
Hypnosis is facilitated by bypassing the critical factor of our minds and using selective thinking. What does this mean? It means that you focus on one idea instead of all the random thoughts you would normaly have come into your mind. Remember all hypnosis is self hypnosis. Hypnosis isn't something done to you, it is something you are an active part of, and can learn to do and use just like any other skill you have already learned.
